J.R. Todd’s run to the Funny Car world championship highlighted a year that saw Toyota-supported drivers win 10 races during the 2018 NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series.  Todd dominated throughout the six-race Countdown to the Championship playoffs, earning three victories in five final round appearances, culminating with his sixth victory of the season at the Auto Club NHRA Finals in Pomona to capture the title.

  Todd, Smith Clinch World Championships
J.R. Todd clinched his first career NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series Funny Car world championship title during the first round of eliminations Sunday at the Auto Club NHRA Finals at Auto Club Raceway at Pomona. Matt Smith also won his third Pro Stock Motorcycle world championship at the final 2018 NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series event during eliminations on Sunday. 
Tanner Gray Clinches NHRA Pro Stock Title in Pomona

Pro Stock racer Tanner Gray became the youngest NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series world champion by qualifying Saturday at the season ending Auto Club NHRA Finals at Auto Club Raceway at Pomona.  Leah Pritchett (Top Fuel), Ron Capps (Funny Car), Jeg Coughlin Jr. (Pro Stock) and Matt Smith (Pro Stock Motorcycle) were No. 1 qualifiers in their respective categories at the final race of the 2018 NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series season.
Torrence Wins NHRA Top Fuel World Championship

Steve Torrence won his first Top Fuel world championship during eliminations on Sunday at the NHRA Toyota Nationals and raced to his 10th victory of the year at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. J.R. Todd (Funny Car), Bo Butner (Pro Stock) and Hector Arana Jr. (Pro Stock Motorcycle) were also winners in their respective categories at the fifth of six playoff events during the 2018 Mello Yello Countdown to the Championship.

Steve Torrence continued his dominance in the Top Fuel division with a win in Sunday's 11th Annual Carolina Nationals at zMax Dragway to tally his fourth-straight victory - setting an unprecedented undefeated mark in the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series Countdown for the Championship. Ron Capps (Funny Car), Jason Line (Pro Stock) and Matt Smith also went to the Winner's Circle in Sunday's event – the fourth race in the six-race battle for the championship.

Brittany Force saved her best run for last and made it pay off with a top qualifying run to rise to the top of the Top Fuel ladder in Saturday's qualifying for Sunday's 11th annual Carolina Nationals at zMax Dragway. Tommy Johnson, Jr. (Funny Car), Drew Skillman (Pro Stock) and Eddie Krawiec (Pro Stock Motorcycle) also took the No. 1 qualifier spots in their respective divisions for Sunday's race – the fourth of six events in the Countdown to the Championship.
Pritchett Clinches NHRA Factory Stock Showdown Title
  Captures Third Consecutive Win
Leah Pritchett clinched the 2018 NHRA Factory Stock Showdown championship in her Mopar Dodge Challenger Drag Pak at the AAA Texas NHRA FallNationals near Dallas, racing to her third consecutive win of the season and earning her first championship in her first full year in the class.

Antron Brown finally snapped a year-long winless streak on Sunday as the three-time NHRA Top Fuel World Champion scored his first victory of the season - beating out Leah Pritchett to win the 31st annual CatSpot NHRA Northwest Nationals at Pacific Raceways. Ron Capps won his second national event win of the year in the Funny Car final against Courtney Force, while Tanner Gray collected his division leading fourth Wally of the season with a victory over Deric Kramer in the Pro Stock class.

  Menards NHRA Heartland Nationals
Courtney Force captured her first career back-to-back Funny Car victories Monday afternoon at the 30th annual Menards NHRA Heartland Nationals presented by Minties at Heartland Motorsports Park. The event was postponed until Monday after weather delayed the track activity until 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, which allowed for only two rounds of eliminations for Top Fuel and Funny Car, and one round for Pro Stock. Clay Millican (Top Fuel) and Deric Kramer (Pro Stock) were also victorious in their respective categories at the eighth of 24 events on the Mello Yello Drag Racing Series schedule. All three drivers were the No. 1 qualifiers at the event.

Cruz Pedregon snapped a 92-race winless streak with a victory in the Funny Car final in Sunday's ninth-annual NGK Spark Plugs NHRA Four-Wide Nationals at zMax Dragway. Pedregon took his independently-owned team to victory over two of the powerhouse teams in NHRA by besting John Force, Courtney Force and Don Schumacher Racing driver Tommy Johnson, Jr. for his first victory since Englishtown in June, 2014. Steve Torrence (Top Fuel), Erica Enders (Pro Stock) and Jerry Savoie (Pro Stock Motorcycle) joined Pedregon in the Winner's Circle collecting win in their respective categories.
Force Sisters Top zMax Qualifying

Brittany and Courtney Force raced to the number one position in their respective categories in Saturday's final qualifying sessions for Sunday's NGK Spark Plugs NHRA Four-Wide Nationals at zMax Dragway, marking the third time the two daughters of 16-time Funny Car Champion John Force have doubled up in qualifying at a national event. Drew Skillman was top qualifier in Pro Stock while LE Tonglet took the pole in Pro Stock Motorcycle.

The 2018 NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series season continued Saturday as Courtney Force set both ends of the Funny Car track record at the 34th annual NHRA Arizona Nationals at Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park. Tony Schumacher (Top Fuel) and Deric Kramer (Pro Stock) are also No. 1 qualifiers in their respective categories at the second of 24 events on the 2018 NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series schedule.

The season-opening event of the 2018 NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series concluded Sunday at the 58th annual Lucas Oil NHRA Winternationals presented by ProtectTheHarvest.com at Auto Club Raceway at Pomona. Matt Hagan (Funny Car), Doug Kalitta (Top Fuel) and Bo Butner (Pro Stock) were victorious in their respective categories at the first of 24 events during the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series.
