This be IndyCar's last year in Phoenix (4th Update)
When you can shoot a cannon into the grandstands and not hit anyone, it's a sign it's time to move on
When you can shoot a cannon into the grandstands and not hit anyone, it's a sign it's time to move on. The market cannot support two Cup races plus an IndyCar race - they were idiots for even trying

UPDATE This rumor is upgraded to 'fact' today. An official IndyCar statement says: “IndyCar has enjoyed its time racing at ISM Raceway, but attendance in the past three years has been disappointing despite considerable investment from both sides.

“Track president Bryan Sperber and his team have been terrific partners and are developing a beautiful facility, and IndyCar will reconnect with them when conditions are right for both parties.

“Meanwhile, IndyCar is moving forward with building a terrific schedule for the 2019 season.”

IndyCar schedule - Mexico City (12th Update)
Stick a fork in the Mexico City race, it's done for 2018 and we doubt it will happen in 2019 either.
Stick a fork in the Mexico City race, it's done for 2019 and we doubt it will happen in ever.

UPDATE  As we predicted, IndyCar is not going to any new overseas races as they are clueless how to make their series popular globally. They are becoming invisible and will go dark globally after this season. In most countries IndyCar will become an unknown entity with the new NBC TV deal.

“No new news,” IndyCar CEO Mark Miles said about the proposed road course race at Mexico City’s Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez to the Indy Star. “It’s out there sort of simmering but not boiling.”

11/30/17 This rumor is downgraded to 'false' today. If you read through all the updates to this rumor below, while other outlets were reporting the Mexico City race was 99% certain, AR1 predicted it had less than 5% chance of happening. We were correct, it's dead.

UPDATE
This rumor is downgraded to 'false' today. Speaking to Reuters, Force India's chief operating office, Otmar Szafnauer not only denies that, contrary to media reports, Liberty Media did not dig into its own pockets to aid the team, but rival outfits blocked any hope of cash advances at what is traditionally a tough period for the smaller outfits.

"It's no secret we asked for a bit of money up front so that gets us through the winter," said Szafnauer. "This year, that money wasn't forthcoming because I think some of the teams said ‘You can't do that' and blocked it.

Will IndyCar return to Texas Motor Speedway
The huge Friday crowd at TMS for qualifying
The huge Friday crowd at TMS for qualifying. Its TV rating of 0.21 was infomercial territory, but that's fairly common with NBCSN. IndyCar must like minuscule TV ratings as they renewed with the network

Texas Motor Speedway president Eddie Gossage wants IndyCar to return in 2019, but it’s not a given.

The two sides don’t have an agreement in place for the 2019 season, but negotiations are expected to begin in the coming weeks. Gossage would like to have something worked out by August when TMS usually starts selling season tickets for the following race season.

"We’ll sit down here shortly and have conversations with them," Gossage said. "I would certainly hope we could reach a business deal. They’ve been here for 22 years, so I don’t know why that’s going to change."
