Carabante sells Hispania team to Japan's NomuraUPDATE #2 This rumor is upgraded to 'fact' today. HRT on Monday confirmed reports the Spanish team has been sold.
It was reported team owner Jose Ramon Carabante sold out to the Japanese industrial and financial group Nomura.
Hispania Racing confirmed in a statement that the Nomura-linked Spanish firm Thesan Capital is now the "main" and "controlling" shareholder of HRT.
The statement said Thesan will maintain "the current team and directors".
07/04/11 (GMM) Jose Ramon Carabante has sold his formula one team HRT, according to Spanish media reports.
AS and ABC newspapers, as well as Cadena Ser radio, say the Spanish team has been bought by Japanese industrial and financial group Nomura.
Some insiders report the buying price as $30 million, but ABC quoted Carabante as valuing Hispania Racing at between "50 and 70 million".
AS sports newspaper said the sale, with HRT to retain its current name, was finalized last Friday and handled by the bank that controls Carabante's corporate assets.
Cadena Ser said Carabante's son is expected to emerge with a prominent management position as a result of the transaction.
An official announcement is expected early this week.
07/03/11 The Spanish team of HRT should have been sold to Japan's Nomura Group, is an official confirmation yet from on race-free weekend, the HRT team will continue making headlines is after 'motor-Total.com' reveals that leave team boss Colin Kolles (CK) the racing team and take over Daniel Ricciardo from Silverstone, the cockpit of Narain Karthikeyan is characterized now another change of great significance from.
For as the Spanish sports daily 'AS' reports to Jose Ramon Carabantes have sold his team on Friday. New owner would thus be the Nomura Group. It is a Japanese company with headquarters in Tokyo, which has started in various industries, from oil on the construction to food, work. Core business of the Nomura Group, however, the financial system.
There is no official confirmation on the part of the team for the 'AS' story not for the CK departure would make a sale but a lot of sense. Because HRT has no de facto own race team, but has been out of the CK-operation in the German city of Greding. CK should actually go to Williams as suspected, this would be invalid.
These are also reports that HRT is currently looking around for our own engineers. Sun chief technology officer Geoff Willis has contrived for example, negotiations with his former colleague Gary Savage, may soon join the team. Motorsport-total
[Editor's Note:] The strange thing about this story (see above): It says their source is AS (http://www.as.com/) and (http://www.as.com/motor/formula-1/), but when you look at the AS website, one can't find a word about this story, let alone an article ... strange to say the least.....
