Who will run which IndyCar engine in 2012UPDATE #5 KV Racing made it official today, announcing their alliance with Chevrolet to power its Indy Cars in 2012. The number of cars they will run was not announced.
11/01/11 Bryan Herta, whose team conducted the 2012 chassis tests on behalf of INDYCAR and Honda, has been linked with a Honda engine supply for 2012 (we had his team in the table below with Lotus, so it is updated) and to drivers ranging from Alex Tagliani to Sebastien Bourdais.
The accuracy of those rumors, according to Herta, will be known when all the contracts are signed and completed, but not a moment before.
"We’re close to making an announcement," he said. "We’ve followed our plan all along and we’ll keep following it. We don’t want to be the ones to put out press releases on what we might do or think we’ll do and then have it change. We’re working quietly behind the scenes preparing for next year and will announce our plans as soon as they’re solidified," he told Speedtv.com
10/28/11 KV Racing's Tony Kanaan will test a Chevy Powered 2012 IndyCar next Wednesday and Thursday at Indy with Dario Franchitti testing the Honda the same day. If Kanaan is in a Chevy then that confirms in the table below that KV Racing will run with Chevy power in 2012. We await the announcement.
10/07/11 As we showed below, Panther Racing will run Chevy engines per today's announcement - see hot news page.
09/24/11 Back on August 12th we predicted the Andretti team would run Chevy power in 2012 and this week it was confirmed.
