2nd Brazil race in IndyCar's future? A new Hermann Tilke-designed road course in southern Brazil was unveiled Friday morning as part of the pre-event festivities for the annual Granja Viana 500 km kart race.
Limited details were released, but as SPEED.com contributor Efrain Olivares explained after the press conference, "The track is scheduled to begin construction next year, with a 2-3 year plan and they hope to attract IndyCar."
Located adjacent to the Beto Carrero World kart facility that Tilke also penned, IndyCar Series veteran Vitor Meira says area is ripe for a full-scale track and IndyCar Series date.
"You should see where the [kart] track is; it's like being in the middle of Disney World, but twice the size of Disney World," he said while preparing for the Granja Viana event.
"It's just beautiful what they have done here with the kart track Tilke did. I've heard the rumors about a big track for a while, so it's awesome they are actually doing it. Anytime they say they want another IndyCar race in Brazil, it's good for us--it always helps us to find more sponsors. I think [INDYCAR] would be amazed at this place if we get to come race here."
Track length and corner count on the familiar multi-configuration Tilke layout were not released. Speedtv.com
