Andretti prepared to terminate Milwaukee if fans don't turn out A big week awaits Michael Andretti, who owns a promotion company running next weekend's race at the Milwaukee Mile.
Indy cars have been racing in Milwaukee for nearly a century, but this could be the last go-around. Andretti said IndyFest, which is Friday and Saturday, needs a good showing to continue.
"If people don't come for this," he said, "they're not going to come out."
Andretti Sports Marketing has done plenty to attract a crowd. The infield of the historic venue will have everything from a zip line to a snake pit to a family fun zone to a Ferris wheel to bumper car racing.
There will be a battle of the bands after Friday's IndyCar qualifications and the Firestone Indy Lights race. There will be a Smash Mouth concert after Saturday afternoon's IndyCar race.
Andretti said ticket prices have been reduced 38 percent, and IndyCar drivers Graham Rahal and Alex Tagliani have organized bus trips from Indianapolis.
A sellout would be about 35,000, and Andretti will only say that ticket sales are ahead of last year's pace -- it drew approximately 15,000 fans in 2011 according to media reports -- by another promoter. Indy Star
