More gimmicks coming for the Indy 500 (Update) UPDATE
A reader writes, Dear AR1.com, What other gimmicks will they think of next to cover up the damage done by Tony George's 'vision' for IndyCar Racing?  I have attached a photo for you that I believe sums up the situation perfectly - it’s like putting lipstick on a pig.  Mordichai Rosen, Los Angeles, CA.

11/08/13 Look for more big changes during the 2014 Month of May at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Hulman & Co. Chief Executive Officer Mark Miles tells Inside Indiana Business the qualifying format for the Indianapolis 500 will undergo major revisions. He says plans call for 33 provisional qualifiers on the first day of competition, then two sessions on Sunday to set the field. Milles will detail the planned changes this weekend on Inside Indiana Business Television.

This is what has become of the once greatest race in the world, when drivers were busting their butts to get in the field when there were 60 cars trying to make 33 spots. That was during the CART years before Tony George destroyed the sport.

Some of the details will apparently be released this weekend.  It sounds like every car will have to make multiple qualification attempts on both Saturday and Sunday before the field is set.  I guess you have to do something to liven things up when you can barely attract 33 entries most years to what used to be one of the most important races in the world.
