Maldonado to do GP2 and F1? Pastor Maldonado has been confirmed as Kohei Hirate's teammate at Trident Racing for the upcoming 2007 GP2 championship season. The Venezuelan tested for the team at the end of last year, after impressing in earlier tests for rivals at BCN Competicion.
"After reviewing all the proposals that I had for 2007, I think we have made the best decision in signing with Trident," he said. "They are a very professional team with which we are going to work hard to fight for the top positions in GP2."
After securing this seat, Pastor has made his intentions known to the Formula One team bosses that will be present at most of the GP2 races, confirming that is aim is to make it into the pinnacle of Motorsports and the first steps have already been taken with ongoing talks to several teams in regard to a testing role…
"We are in the final phase of the talks and we will make a decision based on who offers the best conditions, although both offers that we have are very tempting," he confirmed.
