Daly tops final IndyCar practice

Conor Daly, driving for his job in 2020, turned the fastest lap in final practice for the Bommarito Automotive Group 500 IndyCar race at Gateway in his Carlin Chevy.

Polesitter Josef Newgarden was 2nd quick in his #2 Penske Chevy but suffered a misfire in his engine toward the end of the session and his crew scrambled to get it fixed. Time ran out in the session and they never got back out to see if the issue is fixed.

Charlie Kimball's crash ended the session with about 8 minutes to go. Charlie is cleared to drive. The car suffered damage to the front right, the right rear and the undertray — which should be fixed long before race time.

Zach Veach was third quick for Andretti Autosport while Takuma Sato and Felix Rosenqvist rounded out the top-5.
