God Giveth, God Taketh away

It does not pay to win in IMSA. If you do you will be neutered. How dare Mazda win two races in a row!

The Mazda team finally won two races back-to-back in IMSA, and now they will be neutered. God (IMSA) Giveth you a BoP adjustment to win, then God (IMSA) takes it away.

Following back-to-back victories at Watkins Glen and Mosport, the Mazda RT24-P was handed a 20-kilogram increase in minimum weight and a reduction in turbo boost equivalent to almost 17 hp in the mid-to-high RPM for this weekend’s race at Road America.

This is the first significant BoP hit for the Multimatic-built prototype.

Other BoP changes to the DPi class include a 20-kilogram weight increase for the Cadillac DPi-V.R, which is partially offset by a 0.6 millimeter larger air restrictor, which amounts to roughly an 11-hp increase.

The Acura ARX-05 has been handed a 10-kilogram weight increase as well, with the Nissan DPi remaining unchanged.

Cadillac and Mazda have each been given fuel capacity adjustments due to its power level changes.

The GT Daytona class, meanwhile, has seen BoP adjustments to three cars, with the Acura NSX GT3 Evo being given a 20-kilogram increase in minimum weight.
