NHRA To Move To Fox Sports 1

The National Hot Rod Association is expected to announce a new television deal with Fox Sports 1 for the 2016 season, according to a report in the Sports Business Daily.

The NHRA will reportedly pay a penalty to break out of their contract with ESPN a year early in order to move to FS1. The move would end the NHRA's 14-year relationship with ESPN.

The NHRA had announced earlier this year it was no longer going to have its broadcasts produced by ESPN but would instead begin producing them in-house using their own facilities.

When asked to comment about the story during this past weekends events at Route 66 Raceway, NHRA officials would neither confirm or deny the rumor.

An announcement regarding the deal is expected in a few weeks.
