Wilson or Daly to replace Hinchcliffe? (Update)

UPDATE Per today's announcement, Conor Daly will replace Hinchcliffe for this weekend's Detroit doubleheader.

05/26/15 James Hinchcliffe's return hasn't been defined, but Schmidt Peterson Motorsports co-owner Sam Schmidt said Monday there's reason to believe the IndyCar regular could race again this season.

"Sometime in August," Schmidt said.

Hinchcliffe is recovering from Monday's surgery at IU Health Methodist Hospital, and Schmidt said he could go home Wednesday or Thursday.

Meantime, the team needs a fill-in driver for the No. 5 car. No decision has been made, although Schmidt said an offer has been extended to a driver (likely Justin Wilson, who is pursuing options to remain with Andretti Autosport).

Ryan Briscoe drove the SPM car Sunday, finishing 12th after starting 31st, but he has sports car obligations in Europe next month. Conor Daly, whose SPM car failed before the race started, is another option. Indy Star
