IMS To Keep loser MotoGP Event, Drop loser IMSA Race

Of course there was no mention that you could shoot a cannon into the grandstands at both races and not hit anyone. When is IMS brass going to learn? Kick all other series out and just run two IndyCar races a year. Both will eventually sellout and IMS won't look like a loser track with empty grandstands.

MotoGP "likely will race" at Indianapolis Motor Speedway in '15, while IMSA's sports cars "will not."

Track President Doug Boles said that the "Thursday-Friday format used by sports cars the past three years on NASCAR's Brickyard 400 weekend has not worked for either the sanctioning body or the track."

He added that "there are discussions about IMS hosting a standalone sports car event in the future, but there wasn't enough time to flush out details" for '15.

Boles "expects IMS will be on the schedule" that Dorna Sports, the MotoGP commercial rights holder, announces in the fall. IndyStar.com
