IndyCar expected to extend deal with Baltimore Grand Prix

The promoter of the Baltimore Grand Prix told the Baltimore Business Journal that it expects to have a contract extension with IndyCar within the next 30 days.

But the event won't be on Labor Day weekend in 2014 as it will be this year (and has been for three years). That's because the inner harbor area of the city will be congested with the hosting of the Navy-Ohio State college football game at nearby M&T Bank Stadium.

The racing event counts on having the streets around the stadium for the circuit.

The new day is expected to be in mid- to late-August as IndyCar works to compress its schedule.

This year's Grand Prix of Baltimore is scheduled for Sept. 1. AutoWeek

[Editor's Note: It will be too hot in August in Baltimore, which will kill off the event. You want a good time to run the race in Baltimore? First week in May. Forget about the road course at Indy in early May. The 2nd race at Indy needs to be a 400-miler under the lights on Labor Day weekend. It would be huge, and we say that with 95% certainty.]
