di Grassi to replace Bourdais LeMans?

Sebastien Bourdais makes no secret that he would like to race in IndyCar full-time in 2012. This year he only ran the road and street races as the ovals conflicted with his Peugeot sports car commitments.

Ex-Formula One driver Lucas di Grassi is in the frame for a Le Mans 24 Hours seat with Peugeot for next season.

The Brazilian, who raced in F1 for Virgin in 2010 is among the contenders for one of the vacant drives at the French manufacturer in 2012. Di Grassi proved his credentials with Peugeot during an initial tryout at Paul Ricard and was then invited back for a further test at MotorLand Aragon in Spain last month.

Peugeot Sport technical director Bruno Famin confirmed that 27-year-old di Grassi is in talks for a deal that would likely encompass Le Mans and selected rounds of the new FIA World Endurance Championship.

"Di Grassi is under consideration along with others," Famin said. "He has tested for us on two occasions and went well, but nothing is decided."
