Ecclestone brings in successor?

London’s O2 Arena boss and Chief Executive of AEG Europe, David Campbell is to become the new Managing Director of Allsport Management, the subsidiary of Formula One Holdings, that looks after the sponsorship and other commercial aspects related to the sport.

Sky Sports reports that Campbell should take up his new role sometime in the first quarter of the 2011. Campbell replaces Paddy McNally, who will become the companies’ Non-Executive Chairman. The appointment of Campbell has already led to speculation he could be groomed to replace Ecclestone, who this year celebrated his 80th birthday. Not that Ecclestone has expressed any desire to retire, quite the contrary in fact.
