The Honda Off-Road Racing Team and its Ridgeline Baja Race Truck opened the 2019 off-road racing season in the best possible fashion, with a decisive second consecutive victory in the “7200" class for V6-powered unlimited race trucks in Saturday’s Parker 425.

A part of the Best In the Desert Racing Association off-road racing series, the Parker 425 features three laps of a rugged 143-mile course through the southwestern Arizona desert. Each lap presents competitors with wide-ranging conditions, from sand washes and rough rock sections to wide-open rally roads.

Starting second in the five-truck 7200 class, team owner/driver Jeff Proctor and navigator Evan Weller quickly assumed a lead they would not give up for the duration of the event. Pitting at the end of each lap, Proctor and Weller held a 15-minute lead when they made their second and final pit stop. Pat Dailey then took over the driving duties for the final lap, with Weller continuing as navigator.

The duo maintained their advantage over the third and final lap, taking the checkers by 16 minutes over second place, with the Ridgeline team successfully defending its class victory from 2018. This weekend’s run was the first of a five-race 2019 program for the Ridgeline Baja Race Truck, with the March 10th Mint 400, run in the desert outside of Las Vegas, Nevada, next on the schedule.
