Montagny to Andretti Green IndyCar team?

UPDATE At this week's Autosport show in England Franck Montagny said he is still discussing the possibility of a limited program with AGR, including Indianapolis.

"America is not easy so far," he said during an interview on the Central Stage at Autosport International. "It's crisis, as it is in Europe. It's not easy over there either.

"We wanted to work together for a couple of races but it looks a little bit difficult – but I'm still in contact with them and I still hope to do some stuff with them, especially in the Indy 500. That's something I've really wanted to do.

"I tried the car on the ovals and road courses and I feel happy with the car, the team was really happy with me. When both parts are very happy you can make it happen, so we'll see."

07/30/08 Franck Montagny could replace Tony Kanaan as the lead IndyCar driver in the AGR team in 2009 if Kanaan leaves as expected. Kanaan is less than happy with the team that favors Marco Andretti and Danica Patrick.

Montagny will have his first test in the IndyCar Series on Thursday 31st of July and Friday 1st of August. He will drive on Friday an Andretti-Green Racing's Dallara-Honda on the Kentucky Speedway. Montagny drives for AGR in the American Le Mans Series since the beginning of July.

It will be the very first test for the French driver on a oval track. He will probably have a second test, on a road track this time, later in the month of August. Montagny could compete in the IndyCar Series next season, but nothing has been decided for now.

After this test, Montagny will have two days testing at Road America in ALMS on Monday 4th and Tuesday 5th of August, before the next race of the series the following weekend.
