Rolex 24: Hours 18 Standings – Action Express still in control – Update

UPDATE

Could there be a problem for the No. 5 Cadillac?

And literally just as I posted the Hour 18 standings, the first-place No. 5 Mustang Sampling Cadillac made a very brief trip to the garage area. The team apparently has been losing water throughout the evening, and came to the garage under caution to check something. The car then went back to the pit area, where it topped off on fuel, before heading back to the track. The No. 5 remains in the lead with the sister No. 31 Action Express Cadillac back on the lead lap.

We will obviously monitor this situation, as what was looking to be something of a processional race has obviously had a degree of drama injected into it.

01/28/18 With just over 6 hours remaining in the Rolex 24 at Daytona, a full-course caution has come out for debris in turn 6. It remains an Action Express 1-2 at the head of the field, with the No. 5 Mustang Sampling Cadillac DPi currently piloted by Christian Fittipaldi a lap ahead of Mike Conway in the No. 31 Cadillac. And with the third-place #32 United Autosports Ligier currently driven by Hugo de Sadeleer 4 laps behind, Action Express seems to be in a very strong position.

The Chip Ganassi Racing Ford GTs continue to run 1-2 in GTLM with Richard Westbrook in the No. 67 currently ahead of Joey Hand in the No. 66. Andrea Caldarelli has the No. 48 Lamborghini Huracan atop the GTD category.
