Italian team RP Motorsport enters Pro Mazda Championship

Italian team RP Motorsport Racing will enter the Pro Mazda Championship Presented by Cooper Tires as it looks to expand its business on an international scale.

RP Motorsport joins the Pro Mazda grid after two years in the now-defunct World Series Formula V8 3.5. The team, founded by Fabio Pampado in 1998, has previously competed in Formula Renault 2000, Formula 3 Italia and EuroFormula Open.

"After a successful experience in the World Series Formula V8 3.5, we immediately started looking around to fix our plans for 2018," Pampado said. "We found a very interesting context in the Pro Mazda Championship. Thanks to its partnership with INDYCAR and to the new Tatuus chassis in 2018, it will receive a new boost. We believe it is the best choice for us to continue to guarantee our team the presence in a championship with international visibility, and the opportunity to compete on tracks full of charm represents a challenge with a unique flavor."
