Gascoyne and Williams

(GMMf1NET) Williams' technical director has declined to deny categorically that Toyota refugee Mike Gascoyne might be on the way to the Grove team.

Gascoyne will be on 'gardening leave' until October, but his shock Toyota exit has ignited rumors that his future lies at a British-based team.

So far, the 43-year-old Englishman is also linked speculatively with Midland (Silverstone) and Super Aguri (Leafield), but Frank Williams' Oxfordshire-based camp seems the most likely of the trio.

Moreover, the team seemingly has a key technical appointment available, following the departure last month of designer Jorg Zander.

''If we were to make changes,'' Williams' Sam Michael told f1total.com, ''we would not discuss it publicly.''
