Engine ‘freeze’ set for ’07 fast-track

(GMMf1NET) The FIA's controversial 'engine freeze' proposal could be fast tracked to kick off next year, the governing body said on Monday.

Revealing details of the meeting at Maranello with Ferrari, Renault and Cosworth, the sport's ruler said a five-year freeze on performance development of V8 engines had been agreed for 2008 to 2012.

''Those present (at the meeting) will endeavor to secure changes to the 2007 (rules) to incorporate the 2008 engine homologation regulations … including a limitation of engine speed,'' read a statement.
