Ferrari to bounce back say rivals

(GMMf1NET) Fernando Alonso and Jenson Button expect Ferrari to mount a serious challenge for victory at the Australian GP in two weeks.

Although putting Renault's pace on a pedestal after finishing third in Malaysia, Honda's Button predicted that – like in Bahrain – Michael Schumacher should be back in with a shout at cooler Melbourne.

''Renault are clearly out in front,'' the 26-year-old confessed, ''but I think Ferrari will be there (in Australia).''

Button indicated that the Bridgestone-Michelin tire war could tip back in Ferrari's favor away from the searing heat of Malaysia.

He explained: ''At the moment we look like we are closer to (Renault) than Ferrari, but if it's cooler in Melbourne, that should help them.''

Alonso, meanwhile – who fought hard to beat Bridgestone-shod Schumacher at the season opening Bahrain race – suggested that Imola is also shaping up as a Ferrari benefit.

''Maybe they will be back in Australia,'' the Spaniard admitted, ''and also Imola, but hopefully like last year they will have more problems and they will not be as strong.''
