Toyota to start with 7 Cup teams

When Toyota begins competition next year in the NASCAR Nextel Cup and Busch Series, there will be at least four Toyota Cup cars in 2007, Illingworth said Monday following a press conference at NASCAR’s R&D Center in Concord, North Carolina. “Right now, we plan on having four cars, but it could go as high as seven," Illingworth added. “We’ll have to wait and see how the sponsorships go."

There will also be at least four Toyota Busch cars next season, which may or may not be run by the Cup teams, Illingworth said. “We’re still putting the Busch program together. We’ll have to see how it plays out."
