2006 British GP date to change

F1 venue Silverstone is desperate to change the date of its 2006 British grand prix.

Bosses are reportedly anxious after the draw for the football World Cup was unveiled on Friday. It means qualifying is to clash with England's opener against Paraguay.

F1 supremo Bernie Ecclestone switched Silverstone's usual July date to June 9-11 as next year's calendar tries to dodge around the Cup and Melbourne's Commonwealth Games.

British GP chiefs have asked for a meeting with Bernie, 75, in a new bid to make another date switch, the Sunday Mirror newspaper claimed.
