Forsythe eyes Atlantics team

UPDATE Here is a list of 26 teams that are hoping to field 1 or 2 cars in the 2006 Atlantics series. Imagine if each team ran two cars, that would be a 52-car field. If the rest of the Champ Car teams were smart they would partner up with some of the teams on the list. Given this, it's looking like 40-car fields in Atlantics next year could be quite common – – very NASCAR-like. 12/10/05 Word on the street is that Forsythe Racing is eyeing an entry into the ever-popular Champ Car Atlantics Series in 2006 and have hired an ex-Barber Dodge manager to oversee the effort. If true they will be the 4th such team to do so behind Team Australia, Mi-Jack Conquest Racing and Paul Newman. The advantages to having such a program are enormous. Besides being a training ground for mechanics, engineers and drivers, it also enables a team owner who is talking to a driver with partial funding for a Champ Car program, to offer a ride in Atlantics until enough additional sponsorship is found to fund a full Champ Car effort.

Soon it will be too late for the teams who have not committed to an Atlantics program. With 40 cars on order already, at some point Champ Car will have to cap the grid size.
