A new F1 job for Stoddart?

Exiting formula one team boss Paul Stoddart may re-emerge in one of motor sport's top jobs, according to paddock speculation.

The Australian 'Herald Sun' newspaper reckons Stoddart, who has sold Minardi to Red Bull billionaire Dietrich Mateschitz, is apparently 'linked to several' of top motor racing's 'biggest jobs'.

One possible role, says the Melbourne newspaper, is as the 'figurehead of the rival (breakaway) series'. The report continued: ''Some say Stoddart … could emerge as a candidate for Max Mosley's position at the head of the FIA.''

In fact, many saw Stoddart's near-obsessive disdain for Mosley as the foundation for a future bid for the presidency. ''Ah yes, dear old Paul,'' Max replied in the Guardian newspaper. ''F1 just won't be the same place without him. Our loss is almost certainly someone else's gain.''
