West Africa's first motorsports racetrack and leisure park "is set to be open" in a $100M project, according to THE VOICE.

The Ogun State Motorsport is a project proposed by event planner EMC3 Chair Baba Epega, who is based in London, and "nurtured and supported" by Senator Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun State, Nigeria.

The brief for OSM is to create a "Motorsport and Leisure Facility, a place to relax, train, educate at one of the most exciting new developments in Nigeria."

The facility will be based "in the outskirts" of Abeokuta, Nigeria, on a 500-hectare plot of land. Design agency Driven Int'l will be working with EMC3 Nigeria on behalf of Ogun State to design the new motorsport development.

Work is "firmly underway to develop a detailed schematic master plan which will assess the true technical and financial viability of the project and help to shape the offering of a new motorsport hub," which is expected to include a variety of automotive training and education facilities.

The development is also expected to include "other sports and leisure activities zones" as well as onsite accommodation to "support the development and create a new exciting attraction for the people of Ogun State and Nigeria."

There is a "large scope" for manufacturers and automotive companies to get involved as there will be training institutions, showrooms and test centers in the racetrack complex. THE VOICE
