Hakkinen won’t return to F1

Former world champion Mika Hakkinen has distanced himself from speculation about a possible return to Formula One. Reports in the German press have linked the Finn with a move to the new BMW works team after the manufacturing giant bought Sauber recently. But Hakkinen, who retired from the sport in 2001 and now races for Mercedes in the DTM series, dismissed the rumors.

"I don't fully understand where this story comes from," he told Autosport. "I'm extremely comfortable in the Mercedes family. They look after me and support me, and I'm having a great time in the DTM." Sporting Life
