We are hearing now that the Atlantic chassis could be the one-year old Renault V6 chassis, with Renault badging the engine, something we recommended a year ago. 07/15/05
Word here in the Edmonton paddock is that Lola may get the new Formula Atlantic car contract for 2006 (with Cosworth power, possibly badged with a manufacturer) and the new Champ Car might use the same or similar spline (tub, engine, gearbox and other running gear) as the current Lola with new sidepods, bodywork, suspension and wings. A large contract to a single manufacturer for both series is thought to reduce costs dramatically. No final decision has been made yet, however.
