Schumacher would destroy Button

Last week the Daily Mirror reported that Ferrari were talking with Button about the possibility of him replacing Rubens Barrichello next season – a rumor that Ferrari boss Jean Todt says is "zero per cent true." And according to Irvine, Button had better hope there isn’t any truth to it because his career wouldn’t survive very long if he were to team up with Schumacher.

"There is no surer way of seeing your value plummet than being constantly upstaged by someone with the same machine," the former F1 driver told the Sun newspaper. "That is why any suggestion Jenson will go to Ferrari next season is laughable. Michael Schumacher would just blow him away. And that would not be a great career move."

He added: "Anyway, Ferrari are not interested in Jenson. The man they really have their eye on is McLaren's Kimi Raikkonen."
