USGP not dead yet

One day after a fiasco at Indianapolis Motor Speedway led many to say Formula One racing would never return to the city, Speedway President Joie Chitwood said the U.S. Grand Prix might be back next year.

The Speedway's decision will be made in the best interest of the track, its fans, the city of Indianapolis and Central Indiana, Chitwood said. He alluded to the investment made in F-1 and the local economic impact that has been estimated at $170 million.

"(The decision) is going to affect a lot of people. It's important that we understand our role in this and make some good decisions," he said. Indy Star
