Webber under fire

Mark Webber has fired a dart at speculation he is not cutting the mustard at a top F1 outfit. Some say the Australian, who debuted for Minardi in 2002, is only able to shine in a low rung team, and has only ever tackled untalented teammates.

''That's just Formula One,'' Williams' Webber, 28, smiled at Indy. ''You have a bad race or two and you get this sort of questioning. I know what I'm capable of and what I can achieve.''

The biggest question mark has been raised since German teammate Nick Heidfeld surfaced as the coming man of Grove. Previously, Webber had been paired, also at Jaguar, alongside Alex Yoong, Antonio Pizzonia, Justin Wilson and – last season – Christian Klien.

''Up to now I've had my teammate fairly well under control,'' Mark agreed, ''but it's a close fight between Nick and I. But I see a strong teammate as a good thing. It's a great feeling when you beat a guy of Nick's caliber.'' GMMf1NET
