Bremer out, Verstappen in?

UPDATE #4 According to Ronnie Bremer, he will be in the HVM car this weekend in Portland as the team has given him more time to find the extra sponsorship. Mark C. 06/13/05 Team Manager Keith Wiggins of HVM told AutoRacing1.com, "The team and Ronnie are working through the hiccups that have occurred with his backing. We are working together to get the issues resolved, but we will run two cars at Portland regardless." The bottom line – the team would like to keep Ronnie but they also need money to operate, so if Ronnie can't come up with the money and another driver can, they would get the ride. We were told that many drivers have contacted the team about the possible open seat. Mark C. 06/13/05 A Danish reader informs us – An article in Danish news about Ronnie Bremer being out of his ride. The article says that he confirms things look bleak and that he needed 500,000 USD by today for his contract. He had contacted Lego and other Danish companies, but no luck. It's really too bad for his career – he beat Danica Patrick in Atlantics and Wirdheim consistently this year. It's also a loss for Champ Car as, despite a mechanical DNF, he is tied for 2nd in the rookie of the year standings and has led in two races. The Danish rookie has admitted on his personal website that he needs to raise $500,000 in order to keep his ride with Keith Wiggins’ squad. The Toyota Atlantic graduate has campaigned a sponsorless car in the first three rounds of the 2005 Champ Car World Series, in which he’s posted two top-10 finishes – seventh at Long Beach and eighth at Milwaukee. He is set to meet with prospective Danish sponsors today (Monday), and if no deal is agreed, the possibility of prematurely terminating his season is considerable. Dutchman Jos Verstappen, who tested with HVM in the off-season, reportedly has the backing to step in at Portland. Oddly, the news of Bremer’s financial difficulties were posted only on the Danish-language portion of the website, likely as a way to raise awareness with local sponsors.
