Rubens may leave Ferrari

UPDATE Rubens Barrichello has shot down rumors he will accept a $12m a year offer to leave Ferrari and be BAR's number one next year. ''That's just gossip,'' said the Brazilian, who – although more outspoken in recent weeks – has a red 2005 contract. In La Gazzetta dello Sport, 33-year-old RB claimed the rumor cropped up in badly translated interviews elsewhere. Red Bull's David Coulthard is also linked to BAR-Honda, who'll have a spare seat if Jenson Button returns to Williams. 06/11/05 Rubens Barrichello has admitted he might one day leave the Scuderia. The Brazilian, who has raced a red Ferrari since 2000, put his odds at '50-50' that he might see out his career elsewhere.

Recent speculation said Rubens' anti-Schumacher stance after a Monaco incident indicated a wider rift behind Maranello based doors. He told ITV: ''As long as Ferrari and I are in love … then we can keep going. But there is life outside Ferrari.''

The 33-year-old revealed that he has 'talked to other' teams. Barrichello, linked with BAR-Honda, added: ''I'll keep smiling and see what comes to me. ''I have a contract to 2006 and that is firm. The important thing is to win the title.''
