Rosberg to test for Williams

UPDATE This rumor is now upgraded to 'fact.' Nico Rosberg has moved closer to his aim of following his world championship winning father Keke into Formula One after signing to join Williams as their second test driver. Rosberg, who currently competes in the GP2 series which supports Formula One, will continue racing but also join third driver Antonio Pizzonia, of Brazil, in a new role to help the team move forward. Mario Theissen, who is motorsport director of Williams engine suppliers BMW, said: "(Rosberg) is signed as a second test driver, second to Antonio. I don't know when he is in the car, it could well be (next week)." 04/22/05 The BMW Williams team is to use GP2 driver Nico Rosberg to do some of its testing in the next few weeks. The deal is only a one-off at the moment and not a longer-term agreement with the young Finnish driver, who is the son of Keke Rosberg, who won the World Championship for the team in 1982. We understand that Nico will do some basic systems tests for the team at Silverstone. Grandprix.com
