No promoter for Milwaukee races

Who will be the promoter at the Milwaukee, Wisconsin State Fair Park this year? The Fair has booked Champ Car, IRL and NASCAR events for its famed Milwaukee Mile, but has had no success in finding a promoter. Negotiations are said to be ongoing with former operators the Giuffre Brothers, who report race-team-owner John Menard and short-track promoter John Kaishian have signed on with them, and with local businessmen Mike Sweeney and Mike Welsh. Prospects, however, seem dim as the State lost $3.6 million on 2004 racing events which the Fair promoted. Will Champ Car and the IRL have to promote the races themselves.
