Renault looks to re-sign Alonso

Renault team principal Flavio Briatore has entered into talks with world championship leader Fernando Alonso to extend his contract with the team. The Spaniard has won two out of three of this year's grands prix and Briatore is keen to lock up his services quickly. Particularly as interest in Alonso is believed to be growing among rival teams – including Ferrari. "The negotiations with Renault for a contract extension have already started," Briatore told Swiss magazine Motorsport Aktuell. "If all sides are in agreement, it would be great to be able to announce the new contract at the Monaco Grand Prix (in May)," he added.
