Kiesa on pole for Sauber seat

Denmark's Nicolas Kiesa is winning the race to become Sauber's 'Friday' driver, Peter Sauber admitted. The Swiss said Kiesa, the former Minardi racer, moved into the lead following Timo Glock's signing of a Champ Car deal. But he still needs to find $5 million, to fund the extra expense. Sauber also vowed to 'help' – rather than fire – struggling race driver Jacques Villeneuve, 'by giving him a fast car with more grip and better behavior. ''If we can do this,'' said the team owner and principal, ''I'm sure we'll see again why he was the champion (in '97).''
