Junqueira scorches Sebring

UPDATE See Hot News page for official statement on the test and how much he really broke the lap record by. 03/31/05 Reports from Sebring are that Bruno Junqueira drove a Champ Car around the 3.7-mile (long) Sebring course today with a fast lap time of 1min. 41 sec., some 7 seconds under the ALMS lap record set by JJ Lehto. The assumption is that the Champ Car will get down to the 1 min. 39 sec bracket under qualifying conditions. Now it remains to be seen whether this test leads to a Champ Car race at the famed central Florida facility as rumored elsewhere on these pages.
