New Chevy Monte Carlo for 2006?

UPDATE Dodge unveiled the Charger this season as its Nextel Cup entry. Now, Ford and Chevrolet are planning to introduce new models in the near future. "The teams have to go racing," Chevrolet's Pat Suhy said. "This year saw a new Dodge Charger. We are looking at a new Chevrolet in 2006 at Daytona." Chevrolet is planning to redesign its Monte Carlo for 2006, while Ford is working on a new car – either the Ford 500 or the Fusion, to replace the Taurus. The Taurus has been used since 1998. "To my understanding, it will be ready for 2006 as well," said Ford car owner Jack Roush. Both manufacturers will have to meet the July 1 deadline to submit their new models to NASCAR. AP 02/17/05 A year after re-designing the Chevrolet Monte Carlo, General Motors wants to do it again for the 2006 season. The new production model of the 2006 Monte Carlo was unveiled in January at the Detroit Auto Show. Chevrolet must win support for its changes from NASCAR by a Sept. 1 deadline so teams will have time to build new cars in time for the next season. Since most of the templates in NASCAR are the same for Chevrolet, Ford and Dodge, the only areas open for change are the front and rear bumpers. Augusta Chronicle
