Tobacco may get F1 reprieve

(GMMF1.NET) F1 teams may be allowed to advertise cigarettes outside of Europe after this August's ban. It had been suggested that teams would be subject to prosecution if 'illegal' logos were beamed via television into European lounge rooms.

But a spokesman for the European Commission said: ''The commission has no way of enforcing the law outside the area of its treaties. ''The laws of the (European Union) apply to the EU,'' he told the UK's Guardian newspaper.
