Car of the future….three years away

The car of the future — NASCAR’s so-called “car of the future" is at least three years away, according to competition official Robin Pemberton. “I could see us starting to implement some of the changes next year," said Pemberton. “The car of the future isn’t going to be implemented at one time. It will be at least a year away before we make any changes, and it will probably be implemented over at least a three-year period, in which various aspects are implemented partially each year in order to hold down the costs associated with the changes. That’s so that teams don’t have to build new cars all at once and incorporate all the changes at once." The “car of the future" is a project of NASCAR’s Research and Development Center. The concept involves different methods of construction designed to make racing safer. Gaston Gazette
