Honda planning IRL exit

Our connections in Japan tell us that the President of American Honda (Koichi Amemiya?) is very unhappy with the IRL. Apparently he was promised by some very prominent IRL and NASCAR team owner who helped orchestrate their move to the IRL that Champ Car (then CART) would be put out of business and the IRL would have free reign of open wheel racing in the USA. What they didn't plan on was OWRS saving the Champ Car series and still having control of the best road racing venues in North America. Is he mad enough for Honda to follow Toyota right out of the IRL? That's what the rumor mill is saying…..a year or so after Toyota is gone, so too will Honda. We shall, as they, see…….
