Egypt to build track

The construction of a new circuit in Northern Egypt should open up the prospect of a Middle Eastern Formula 3 Championship. Plans for the 1.4-mile Ghazala Bay track have been approved by the FIA and work is expected to begin soon. If all goes as scheduled, the venue should be ready to stage its first race early in 2006. As an FIA ‘category-three’ track, Ghazala Bay will be able to host F3 and touring car races. The man behind the project, Medhat Badawi – a successful businessman and the boss of the Egyptian Karting Club – has spoken to Macau F3 promoter Barry Bland about a possible race. Autosport Magazine
