ESPN to get competition

Chris Economaki reports in NSSN that Rupert Murdoch, who heads Fox Entertainment, has said he would like to start a new cable TV network to compete with ESPN. Insiders say ESPN, still smarting over being ousted by NASCAR, can’t wait to get back to the tracks. But ESPN’s recently announced entry into the cell-phone biz competing with Nextel will no doubt nix that possibility.
