Ferrari has confirmed that it has signed Marcus Armstrong and Enzo Fittipaldi to its Driver Academy.

Armstrong, 16, has spent the bulk of his career in karting, though made a handful of appearances in Formula Renault 2.0 and the British Formula 3 Autumn Trophy in 2016.

The New Zealander has already confirmed that he will race in the 2017 Toyota Racing Series, which begins next month.

Fittipaldi, 15, grandson of double Formula 1 World Champion Emerson, finished 18th in the Ginetta Junior Championship in 2016, his first year of car racing.

The pair were signed to the program after an evaluation process at Fiorano last month, and will formally join Ferrari at the start of 2017.

Armstrong and Fittipaldi join GP3 champion Charles Leclerc, Antonio Fuoco, Giuliano Alesi and Guan Yu Zhou at Ferrari.

Leclerc and Fuoco will compete for Prema in GP2 next season, with Alesi set to remain in GP3, while Zhou will race for Prema in European Formula 3.
