NASCAR, Monster Energy Meeting To Plan Sponsorship Transition

Monster Energy and NASCAR today will hold immersion meetings at the sanctioning body's Charlotte HQ to begin the work of Monster replacing Sprint as NASCAR's premier series entitlement partner.

The exact agenda is unknown, but Monster's and NASCAR's marketing and communications teams will meet with each other, and execs may be finalizing plans for what the series' new name and logo will be.

Execs involved include Monster Energy VP/Sports Marketing Mitch Covington, who helped strike the deal that was confirmed last week. Monster will have about two months to get ready for the '17 season, which is being viewed as a short but doable timeframe. Adam Stern/SBD
