Theodore Racing Launches Innovative Partnership With The Macao Government Tourism Office

Theodore Racing by Prema is delighted to announce the launch of an innovative partnership between Macao’s global race team, the Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) and the world’s largest social media travel and lifestyle community, Beautiful Destinations (BD).

Initiated by Theodore Racing Team Owner Teddy Yip Jr., this unique partnership centers on global travel guru and Beautiful Destinations Founder, Jeremy Jauncey, and his BD content creation team, discovering the hidden treasures of Macao and sharing their stories via the power of social media.

Theodore Racing was founded in the 1970’s by Hong Kong businessman Teddy Yip Sr. who developed a love affair with both motorsport and the small island of Macao. Yip Sr’s Macao business ventures grew rapidly and he soon became instrumental in promoting Macao’s tourism and developing infrastructure including casinos, hotels, and the HK-Macao hydrofoil service. He went a step further and used his influence across Macao to help develop and promote its annual Grand Prix which has since become an internationally recognized motorsports event, earning Yip Sr the nickname ‘Mr Macao Grand Prix’.

Yip’s Theodore Racing team grew far beyond expectation and in 1978, Theodore Racing became the first and only Chinese constructor to compete in Formula One, an accolade held to this day.

Following a 21-year hiatus, Yip Jr. revived his father’s legendary team with a victorious return to the Macao F3 Grand Prix in 2013, a race which the marque has now won a record eight times.

Like his father, Yip Jr’s passion for both motorsport and Macao has led him to spearhead this exciting partnership between his legendary race team, the MGTO and Beautiful Destinations. The trio of iconic Theodore Racing liveried F3 cars will display the “Experience Macao, your own style" branding during the 2016 Macao Grand Prix on 19th / 20th November 2016 and the BD content creators will shoot captivating content of Macao, through the eyes of the race team.

Beautiful Destinations is the award-winning creative agency behind the largest travel & lifestyle community on social media. Just under 13 million followers in over 180 countries turn to Beautiful Destinations for daily travel, food, fashion and lifestyle inspiration. BD creates “social first" content for brands through smartphone, drone and 360 video technology; using visual analytics to optimize & enhance content. The BD team believes in the power of storytelling, sharing the best sites and sounds in the world and creating wanderlust moments for everyday people.

“Macao has so many hidden treasures", commented Yip Jr, “it has all the glitz and glam of Las Vegas but little is known about the architectural heritage and fascinating mix of Portuguese and Chinese culture. I have been considering ways in which to work with the MGTO for some time and when I met Jeremy Jauncey, the founder of BD, I could see that his love of travel, refreshing approach to marketing and skilled content creation team would be the perfect fit. I’m delighted that our plan has come to fruition and I look forward to welcoming Jeremy and his team to join us at the 2016 Macao Grand Prix and tell Macao’s stories to the world."

The Macao Government Tourism Office is focusing on diversifying tourism. In 2015, Macao welcomed over 30.7 million visitors and is among the top-listed cities in terms of visitation. Macao holds a leading position in the global gaming market but will use this creative partnership to entice new visitors to experience its array of cultural, sporting and family entertainment.

The MGTO commented “MGTO is very proud of partnering BD and Theodore Racing, to showcase the dynamic and cultural aspects of Macao to the world audience via such a renowned racing team and social media company. We want the world to know that we have both the active and cultural elements, world-class hotels, entertainment and performances to suit tastes of the world audience. We are small but our mind is big. We welcome visitors all over the world to experience our hospitality, our culture, our way of living, in their own style!"
