Anthony Davidson has been ruled out of this weekend’s Six Hours of Mexico presented by AT&T, after sustaining bruised ribs from a recent testing accident in Magny-Cours.

Davidson turned several laps during this morning’s Collective Test session at Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez to evaluate his recovery but a joint decision was made that the former FIA World Endurance Champion will not take any further part in this weekend’s event.

It leaves the No. 5 Toyota TS050 Hybrid to a two-driver lineup of Sebastien Buemi and Kazuki Nakajima for the fifth round of the WEC season.

“It is disappointing to come all the way here and then not be able to race but it’s the right decision," Davidson said.

“I wasn’t comfortable in the car this morning and there is no point to take any risks, especially with Austin coming up.

“It’s not a problem to race here with two drivers but it would be impossible in Austin due to the high temperatures. So I’ll be a frustrated spectator for the rest of the week but I know Seb and Kazuki will do a good job."

Toyota Gazoo Racing took part in a two-day test at the French circuit last month, in preparation for this weekend’s inaugural race in Mexico City.

The Japanese manufacturer has already gotten off to a tough start in Mexico, with the No. 6 car of Stephane Sarrazin crashing heavily in the Collective Test and forcing the team to switch to a spare tub.

It will miss the remainder of today’s on-track activities but is anticipated to be back on track tomorrow. John Dagys/Sportscar365
